Meet Duncan
I’m a loving husband, father, USAF Veteran and journalist who got himself caught up in the food service business in Florida. Today, I’m a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach , and I’m on a mission to help you live your healthiest life!
A former overweight, over-medicated, chronically fatigued young man with an addictive personality, I overcame a series of lifestyle related health afflictions and transformed myself into the high energy health and fitness advocate that I am today.
I have a B.A. in Mass Communications and Journalism from the University of South Florida, and am a published correspondent to Sarasota Herald-Tribune, The Weekly Challenger, and Crow’s Nest. Right out of high school, I served four enlisted years in the USAF as an Intelligence Specialist.
I have spent most of my working life in the restaurant and food retail industries fulfilling an eclectic collection job titles: line cook, restaurant manager, fishmonger, waiter, oyster shucker, seafood department manager, marketing and public relations director, health and wellness department manager, sports medicine clinic manager.
The last decade and a half of working and marketing food and supplements has lead me to this conviction—that a minimally processed diet rich in whole plant foods and responsibly sourced animal proteins, on the merits of health and ethics, the ideal dietary discipline for most of humanity. To the people living in the industrialized, “developed” world, where diseases of dietary excess are rampant, this is for you.
Through my experience working with people suffering from an array of chronic health conditions, I have found that a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables, along with carefully sourced grains, legumes, meats and seafood to be an extremely effective health promoting diet. I generally promote a low fat, whole food diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and select grains and legumes. I recognize that different dietary needs, so I do not advocate for a one-size-fits all diet to any of my clients.
Most of my day I work as a personal trainer, in person with local clients in the Sarasota-Manatee county area of Florida. I also take on a limited number of clients for virtual personal training, specializing in coaching for plant-based transformations!
My mission is to, through empathetic education and communication, help make the inhabitants of Earth radically happier and healthier, one soul at a time.
